Why an Urban Cultivator

Urban Cultivator Photo

Introducing
Urban Cultivator Residential

The Urban Cultivator Residential is an all-in-one indoor home garden. You get 365 days of perfect growing conditions for all of your favorite herbs and veggies. No more soggy super market herbs going bad in your fridge... just fresh crisp herbs from your very own garden[¹].

The Urban Cultivator is fantastic for growing not only your Herbs but also your own Microgreens.
What are Microgreens?
A microgreen is a tiny vegetable green that is used both as a visual and flavor component or ingredient primarily in fine dining restaurants. Fine dining chefs use microgreens to enhance the beauty, taste and freshness of their dishes with their delicate textures and distinctive flavors. Smaller than “baby greens,” and harvested later than “sprouts,” microgreens can provide a variety of leaf flavors, such as sweet and spicy[²].

Why is Growing Your Own Food Important
  • With the amount of chemicals and pesticides being added intentionally or environmentally to our food supply, and the increase of allergies and disorders, being in control of what goes on or in you food has never been so important.
  • Eating fresh food that hasn't been traveling for days, allows us to eat food with twice the nutritional value.
  • With having reduced our urban footprint we are reducing the amount of pollution being pumped into our environment.
  • Growing our own food saves not just our environment it also reduces our grocery bill and our gas bill.

For now, we will leave you with this delicious salad recipe from Naturally Ella.... don't forget to leave a comment at the bottom, with your thoughts of this recipe or questions about the Urban Cultivator.

Roasted Beets and Burrata with Microgreens

Serves: 2-3

Beets
1 bunch chioggia beets
½ tablespoon olive oil
¼ teaspoon sea salt

Micro Greens
1 cup micro greens
2 teaspoons olive oil
1 teaspoon lemon juice
½ teaspoon honey
Pinch salt and pepper
2 ounces burrata

1. Preheat oven to 400˚. Scrub beets and remove any wisps (or, peel the beet). Cut the beet in half and each half into ½” thick slices. Place in a roasting dish and toss with olive oil and sea salt. Roast for 40-45 minutes until beets are tender. Remove and let cool completely.

2. Once beets are cool, assemble the dish. Place beets on a plate and add burrata pieces. Place micro greens in a bowl and in a separate bowl, whisk together the small amount of dressing. Pour over the micro greens and toss until coated. Top the beets with the micro greens and serve.
