French Door Refrigerators

There are four popular questions I am regularly asked by people as they start their search for a new French Door Refrigerator.   I thought it would be a good ideas to share these questions – and my answers – with you.

KitchenAid French Door Refrigerator Q: What brand of French Door Refrigerator is best?
A: Almost every appliance brand we carry now makes at least one French Door Refrigerator, so there are lots to choose.  I feel that Kitchen Aid, Maytag or Samsung have the best value based on the many years of dealing with these brands.  Above that, however, these three brands separate themselves from the competition by offering a 10-year compressor warranty.  I like that added piece of mind when investing in a great new fridge.

Q: Will it fit?
A: Yes, it will fit…but only if you get the correct measurements for your opening.  Refrigerators come in a variety of shapes and sizes, and there is no such thing as a “regular” sized fridge.  To get your shopping experience off on the right foot, you have three measurements to take: width, height and depth.
French door refrigerators most commonly come in three different widths: 30, 33, 36 inches wide. The choice of three measurements should allow you to fit your new fridge into most cabinet openings.
Now, the height and depth are equally important.  Refrigerators can range anywhere in height from 66 to 72 inches.  Over the years, as fridges have gotten larger, they have gotten much deeper.  So, it is very important before beginning your shopping trip take measurements.  Also, be sure to make your sales person aware of any obstacles – for example, an island – that may affect how deep your new fridge can be.
KitchenAid French Door Refrigerator Q.  Are they quiet?
A.  Refrigerators are quiet, but certainly not silent.  Most energy efficient refrigerators make some noises that may be different than the ones that came out of your old fridge, but they are not load.  Some customers report a faint popping or chirping noise.  The noises you hear may be more consistent, as energy efficient refrigerators  run constantly unlike your old fridge that cycled on and off;  this is normal and adds to the energy savings.

Q: How much do they cost?
A: This is the question with the biggest variable.  We currently sell French Door Refrigerators ranging from $1,299 to over $20,000.  The brand, size, and features you are looking for will determine the price.  But the most popular models we sell are in the $1,299 to $2,999 range.  This range in price gives a huge selection of features and sizes to fit most needs.
